It’s official, Uptones star trombonist Jeanne Geiger can now add “Professor” to her impressive list of credits. Cal State Hayward recently recruited her to join their storied Music Department as Professor of Jazz Trombone. Jeanne got her Masters Degree in Music Composition as CSEB a few years back, and they must have really missed her because they asked her to come teach.
Jeanne has been playing with the Uptones since 2002, and she is also a member of the Bay Area’s top flight jazz collective, the Jazz Mafia. We congratulate Jeanne “Teeny Tiger” Geiger! To hear some of her playing on The Uptones latest, check out her stellar trombone and horn section work on The Uptones – “TV Guns” – off the “East Bay Orbits” CD.

Trombonist Michael Wadman is the latest Uptone attracted to the Ashkenaz Feb. 25th show. Coming from snow ridden N.Y. to be part of the event, Michael told TMZ he was “Really looking forward to blowing again with the band.” Mike was the original Uptones trombonist, and performs on “Out To Sea,” one of the songs on the upcoming CD, “East Bay Orbits.”
Celebrate with The Uptones, they are introducing Emily Jayne, their newest lead vocalist. All the former Uptones vocalists, Erik Rader, Charles Stella, Moose Lethridge, along with Eric Din, Paul Jackson and Emily Jayne, will perform songs from the upcoming CD, “East Bay Orbits,” on February 25th at The Ashkenaz in Berkeley. This unique event also features the East Bay debut of Dan P. and The Bricks, (featuring members of MU330 and Slow Gherkin) and The Danger Babes, an upcoming duo from San Francisco.
